After a car accident, injured her leg, dancing was no longer possible. During her recovery, she turned to music and that change would shape entertainment history. Her smooth, expressive singing voice quickly gained attention. In the 1940s, she became popular with big bands, especially with band leader Les Brown. Her recording of Sentimental Journey became a massive hit in 1945. For many Americans returning home after World War II, the song became a symbol of hope and reunion. But Doris Day was not just a singer. Hollywood soon recognized her talent and screen presence. She made her film debut in 1948 and audiences immediately loved her natural warmth and energy. During the 1950s and 60s, she became one of the biggest movie stars in the world. She starred in musicals, romantic comedies, and dramatic films. Some of her most famous works include Calamity Jane, Pillow Stock, Love Me or Leave Me, and who could forget the song K Sarah Sarah, Whatever Will Be Will Be, introduced in the man who knew too much.
